BALDWINSVILLE, N.Y. -- Chamber of commerce officials say this event brings in about $150,000 to Baldwinsville business.

At the Red Mill Inn there are flags representing every country in which the competitors in this tournament are from. That means Baldwinsville will be the home this week to plenty of out of town guests.

This tournament will actually get started Thursday morning but an opening ceremony and a peg draw will take place here at the Red Mill Inn Wednesday night.

Anglers will position along a five mile stretch of the Seneca River looking to catch the most carp.

Competitors from places like Europe, Romania, and France and will be competing for $15,000 in prize money.

Meanwhile, local restaurants and shops will be bustling with activity as a few thousand people pour into the area.

"Your grocery stores, your gas station, type thing. The Baldwinsville Farmers Co-op, these anglers have all the special ingredients they need for chumming and what not that they buy locally. And, then the restaurants and taverns they see a lot of activity on Wednesday evening and Saturday evening," said Lee Wilder with the Baldwinsville Chamber of Commerce.

Tournament officials we spoke to say the Seneca River is ideal for this tournament because of its abundant supply of carp.

The 42 teams will actually fish for 50 straight hours.
