SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- International students at SU are finding out what Thanksgiving is all about. The 30th Annual International Thanksgiving Celebration was held Sunday at SU's Goldstein Auditorium.

The event is sponsored by Hendrick's Chapel, the Division of Student Affairs, and the Slutzker Center for International Students. It's a way to show non-Americans the culture behind the turkey and mashed potatoes.

"Many of our students don't go anywhere during the Thanksgiving break, where as the American students go home to mom and dad and grandparents. So our students come here on Sunday and celebrate this dinner,” said Pat Burak, SU International Services.

"I never really knew what Thanksgiving was like before I came here. So it's nice that they actually serve food and explain how everything started and the food itself is great,” said Marina Brink, international student.

The night was topped off with musical performances.
