BALDWINSVILLE, N.Y. -- Eighth grade girls in Baldwinsville now know more about the benefits of a career in engineering.

About 50 girls participated in two "Girls in Engineering" workshops at Baker High School Friday. Students learned about computer integrated manufacturing, 3D modeling and listened to some local female engineers.

The workshops encourage students to consider professions in engineering, which are typically dominated by men.

"We want to open their eyes to the opportunity to have a career that involves math and science and we want to show them the opportunity they have here at the high school and what they can learn," said Baker High School technology teacher Maria Coglitore.

Time Warner Cable and News 10 Now are committed to the Connect a Million Minds program, inspiring youth to develop science, technology, engineering and math skills. For more information, visit connectamillionminds.com.
