BROOME COUNTY, N.Y. – Sixteen Union-Endicott students showed off the product of countless hours of hard work Thursday. The students are part of the school's robotics team and for the last six weeks, they've been working on a robot that can play soccer.

In March, they will take the 115 pound robot and compete with other teams in Rochester and later in Cleveland. The competition is a three-on-three soccer match and the most goals win.

The team says regardless of how they finish, it's already been a memorable experience.

"I think I've already learned a lot more than just what I would have in a classroom because it's hands on. You learn how to lead a team and how to be part of a group and get along. It's not just building a robot," said U-E junior Dan Chianucci.

The squad is now putting on the finishing touches and tweaks. They say they most look forward to the atmosphere and spirit of competition.
