TIOGA COUNTY, N.Y. -- What may look like fun and games to most was really an opportunity to spread the word about engineering.

Employees at Lockheed Martin volunteered their time to show local students a fun and hands on approach to their jobs. Local eighth graders took part in various activities and even had a chance to try out flight simulators.

The employees says much of their job involves working in groups and they wanted to show the students it's much more than just numbers and graphs.

"It's really important to get the kids out here where they get to do things. Hands on activities, it really helps them understand what engineering is all about. We can talk to them 'till we're blue in the face but that doesn't really inspire anybody until they've actually gone out and done some of these activities on their own," said Brian Foy, a Lockheed Martin Manager.

This annual event has been held since 1998. A total of 130 students from eight different schools took part this year.
