SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Grant Middle School students stepped out of the classroom and into the solar system Friday. Lockheed Martin sponsored its annual Space Day at the Museum of Science and Technology.
Students participated in a number of exercises, including one where they worked in teams to conduct a lunar landing. Organizers say it gives students a chance to take skills learned in the classroom and apply them in a fun and exciting manner.
"I think it's incredibly important to mix the fun part of it with the educational aspect of it and today is an example. We're bringing the students in with their educators and showing them how what they're learning in the classroom applies to the real world," said Oliver Liu, engineering project manager.
