BALDWINSVILLE, N.Y. -- Several local companies joined forces to change the life of a Baldwinsville woman.
Judy Aguirre fell in her home last September and broke her neck, leaving her paralyzed and in a wheelchair. Her medical expenses were covered by insurance, but home conversion costs were not.
In a community-wide effort, local companies pitched in and donated supplies to build a wheelchair accessible deck at her home.
Employees of McClurg Remodeling and Construction Services have volunteered to build the 16 by 28 deck.
"She's going to be ecstatic at the end of the project and be able to spend time with her kids in the back yard without having to try to fight around these hills and it's going to be good for her and the kids," said David Furness, McClurg lead carpenter.
Depending on weather, the deck should be completed in about three weeks.
