SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- A week long summer camp at the Syracuse Museum of Science and Technology came to an end Wednesday with all of the high school participants being honored for their work.
Onondaga County Executive Joanie Mahoney was on hand to recognize the students' efforts. Throughout the week, the kids conducted research at various locations like Onondaga Creek and Nine Mile Creek, learning about the environment they live in.
For their efforts, the students received a completion certificate from the County Executive and also a Student Associate Pass to the MOST. Recognition that was well-deserved.
“Makes me feel pretty good that I successfully completed the camp. I worked hard in it we were doing hikes and doing all the things to help the environment and helping Onondaga Lake and I actually feel good about it,” said Jelka Dusper, Solvay High School.
Created by the MOST, Summer Science Week was made possible through grant money from Honeywell Hometown Solutions. It's one of the many programs dedicated to the science and math education of our youth.
The Connect a Million Minds program aims to inspire youth to develop science, technology, engineering and math skills. For more information on that initiative, go to
