SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- It's been 65 years since Hiroshima and Nagasaki were destroyed by nuclear bombs. A procession weaved through downtown Syracuse to remember this dark period in world history.
Organizers say the threat of nuclear warfare remains as high as ever. They say as long as countries possess nuclear weapons, there's no way to prevent another Hiroshima or Nagasaki tragedy.
"It's kind of like the story about the two wolves fighting and someone says which one will win and we say well, the one we feed. We need to feed that spirit that's in the world of nuclear abolition," said Diana Swords, a procession organizer.
The procession was co-sponsored by the Syracuse Peace Council and Peace Action CNY.
