Altmar village vote set for November
It is one of the smallest villages in Oswego County, but it might not be a village much longer. Our Andy Mattison has more on a petition to dissolve the Village of Altmar and the board's decision to put the issue up for a vote.

ALTMAR, N.Y. -- There are just three people on the village board in Altmar. And their future is up in the air. At a special meeting Monday, they set a date for taxpayers in the village to vote on whether or not to dissolve the village government.
The November 10 vote is thanks to a petition the board received last month from longtime resident Bryan Myers.
"We pay a tax that we feel we no longer need. It's a village tax we pay it in July of the year. Lot of people talked about it, they did it 25 years ago I thought it was time to try it again," said Myers.
The board isn't sure just what kind of savings there will be. Village mayor Corey Holcomb said, "It's not a money saving deal. We don't know what it's going to cost. We can't promise they are going to save money until the study is done."
But Myers feels dissolving the village government would simply fit better with Altmar's profile.
"It used to be quite a place and one time. You use to have community events at the fire hall and everybody tried to work together. And now nobody's working for anybody now. It's everybody for themselves," said Myers.
Officials say there are 240 registered voters in the Village of Altmar. And of those voters, 74 of them signed the petition. Now it will be up to them to decide the fate of the village in November.
