EAST SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Police are investigating an overnight burglary at EAVES Ambulance Service in East Syracuse. Officials say someone stole a generator and other items out of the ambulance service's rehab trailer.
They say the theft happened sometime between two and three in the morning while the ambulance crew was responding to a call. The trailer is an important tool in emergency situations and that was also damaged and is out of service until they can get it fixed.
"The trailer is used for firefighter rehab or just rehab in general on large scale incidents, large scale police incidents where refreshments are needed or assessment of firefighters who have been inside a structure," said deputy director Kenneth Smithers.
Ambulance officials are still evaluating the damage, but they say the generator alone was worth $3,000.
