LIVERPOOL, N.Y. -- The Hope for Heather Ovarian Cancer Foundation held its second annual Party for a Cure Saturday. The local community came out in numbers to let loose and support those in the community battling the disease.
Six bands kept the party going. Proceeds from the event will help raise money for ovarian cancer research, community education and support.
Organizers hope the fun and informational nature of the event will help deliver the message of the seriousness of the disease and the difficulties that come with diagnosing it.
"Hope for Heather is very active in community by supporting and educating women about this disease and hopefully we will save a life of someone who is here today or the life of someone who they love,” said Frieda Weeks, Heather Week's mother.
Organizers expect to the event to bring in about $7,000.
