BINGHAMTON, N.Y. -- Diners in the Binghamton area have helped rake in thousands of dollars for the city's Boys and Girls Club, all thanks to their participation in the city's restaurant week.

Binghamton's Mayor Matt Ryan joined the owners of the participating restaurants, as they presented a check for more than $4,000 to the head of the Boys and Girls Club.

This was the city's third restaurant week promotion and organizers say sales increased by about $50,000 over last year. Twenty five cents from every lunch and 50-cents from each dinner sold went toward the Boys and Girls Club donation.

"I can’t tell you how wonderful it is for the community to want to help our organization and we will continue to go to all of these places and we thank you all very, very much,” said Marybeth Smith, Boys and Girls Club of Binghamton.

April's restaurant week brought in an estimated quarter-of-a-million dollars in revenue to the city of Binghamton. They have another planned for this September.
