COOPERSTOWN, N.Y. -- Fathers, sons and the rest of the family enjoyed a pristine day out in Cooperstown Sunday. The third Hall of Fame Classic was played at Doubleday Field.
Thousands of people packed the stands to watch legends like Goose Gossage, Ozzie Smith and Phil Niekro take part in a hitting contest and the ball game.
The weekend-long event has quickly become a father's day tradition, and it's one that not only families look forward to, but the ball-players too.
"You get to mingle with some of the guys you used to face off with and some you never got to play. The hall of fame is a part of us,” said Jim Rice, Red Sox Hall of Famer.
The next big event for the Hall of Fame is the 2011 induction ceremony on July 24th. This year's class includes Bert Blyleven, Roberto Alomar and Pat Gillick.
