Onondaga Co. Chair wants to meet with Chiefs
ONONDAGA COUNTY, N.Y. -- Onondaga County Legislative Chairman William Meyer wants a fresh start between the county and the Syracuse Chiefs.

After an audit last year, the county claimed the Chiefs owed a half million dollars to taxpayers. The dispute was over utility costs at Alliance Bank Stadium.

In December, a report by the county comptroller required a stadium committee made up of county and club officials meet on a regular basis. Meyer says the committee is required to meet no later than March 1st. He announced Thursday he would be happy to host a meeting with Chiefs officials to discuss future plans for the stadium.

"It's time for a new beginning. Let’s go back to the lease. Let’s sit down and have direct conversations, straight up conversations and see if we can get back to the job we're supposed to be doing which is looking out for the taxpayers’ money and new community use," said Meyer.

Meyer says a lease between the county and the Chiefs requires the club to submit a marketing and promotions plan no later than March 1st. He's hoping to discuss those plans soon.
