Small village gets national attention
ITHACA, N.Y. -- Wild Goose Bed and Breakfast in Ithaca's EcoVillage is eco-friendly.
"Green is a time that's come, you know? It's definitely in," said Gail Carson, owner of the Wild Goose Bed and Breakfast.
As people become more conscious of sustainable living, Carson's bed and breakfast is getting more business.
Her business has doubled in the last year, while energy consumption at the inn continues to be minimal.
"I don't have to turn on the heat once the sun's shining in 'till late in the afternoon even on a bitter day like today," said Carson.

Thick walls and south-facing windows help make heating homes at EcoVillage more efficient than most houses.
Carson said one of the reasons she thinks her business has increased over the years is because people are simply curious about eco-villages.
"You wouldn't think of Ithaca as a travel destination in March. Maybe the Bahamas? But people come because they actually want to see what an eco-village is like. And we're one of the most successful ones," said Carson.
"I think more and more people are getting concerned about the state of the environment and trying to figure out ways of life that really help to preserve our ecosystems," said Liz Walker, the EcoVillage at Ithaca Executive Director.
A reporter for Forbes Magazine stayed at the Wild Goose for two days and is writing about the bed and breakfast as well as Ithaca's EcoVillage for an upcoming issue.
Ithaca's EcoVillage is located just off of Route 79 in the town of Ithaca.
