ONEIDA COUNTY, N.Y. -- The air defense command at the former Griffiss Air Force Base in Rome is getting a new commander. Northeast Air Defense Sector Colonel Clark Speicher is retiring Friday. He will be replaced by Colonel John Bartholf.

Bartholf will take control of the command-and-control center for air defense of the eastern United States.
