Police order market to close
SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Police order a community food store on Syracuse's south side to close. City police ordered Zak's Market on West Newell Street to close for one year. This comes after numerous drug, weapons, and loitering complaints at the market.

Previously, the business had been ordered to install security cameras and call police when employees spotted criminal activity. Some people living on the south side are upset with the police order. They said the market is an asset to the community and are fighting to keep it open.

"We've been down to city hall like three times, seems like we're just being ignored. Like nobody care. We do have a city councilor that's trying to work with us to keep our store open. And we're not done. We're taking other steps that going's to hopefully, keep our store open,” said Worletta Clemens.
