ITHACA, N.Y. -- One of the best towns in America is right in Central New York, at least according to Outside Magazine.

The magazine’s August issue will feature Ithaca, New York as one of the 20 greatest towns in the country. Officials at the Ithaca-Tompkins County Convention and Visitors Bureau say that since 2002, $100 million has been invested or committed to re-vitalizing the city of Ithaca. The article notes landmarks such as Cornell University and Ithaca College, as well as the city's waterfront trails.

Washington D.C. tops the magazine's list of best towns in America. Ithaca ranks number six.
