"Sicko" star speaks at SUNY Cortland
CORTLAND, N.Y. -- A woman featured in the Michael Moore film "Sicko" spoke about health care reform at SUNY Cortland on Tuesday.

Donna Smith appeared in the film, which looks at the health care system in America. She says she and her husband were forced to declare bankruptcy because they were unable to pay insurance bills when both needed medical care.

Smith says she supports single-payer health care that's publicly funded and privately delivered.

"In order to solve the problem, we've got to get the for-profit motive out of health care. Health care's a basic human right and we need to provide that for one another," said Smith.

Smith says she supports the national health insurance act that's making its way through Congress. It would provide publicly-funded, privately-delivered health care.
