New K-9 deputy for Onondaga County needs a name
SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- He's the youngest deputy on the force. A 14-week-old bloodhound is the first of his kind in Onondaga County.

He and his trainer, Deputy Mark Loveland, have a lot of work ahead of them honing this pup to perfect his olfactory senses. He will be used to specifically track missing persons or suspects but he needs a name.

"We thought that it would be a wise idea to go the community to get this dog named. So we have decided to contact all of the schools, and a letter will be going out today, to ask that the schools have their fifth and sixth grade classes come up with a name for this dog," said Onondaga County Sheriff Kevin Walsh.
