Oneida Nation float makes appearance in Macy’s parade
NEW YORK CITY, N.Y. -- An All-American Thanksgiving tradition marched through the streets of New York City. The 82nd annual Macy's Parade stepped off from Central Park to Herald Square Thursday morning.
An estimated three-and-a-half million people gathered along the parade route and 50 million watched from home.
As always, there were several giant balloons, including some of the newbies like Buzz Lightyear of "Toy Story," Horton from Dr. Seuss and a Smurf.

Also new this year was a float by the Oneida Indian Nation. The "True Spirit of Thanksgiving" float depicts the tale of sky woman, who one day came to rest on a turtle's back. The giant turtle symbolizes mother earth. A 30-foot white pine tree symbolizing the tree of peace grows from the turtle's back. Iroquois dancers were also on the float.
