Bus fares increase for BC Transit
BINGHAMTON, N.Y. -- It now costs a little more to hop on board a BC Transit bus after a fare increase went into effect January 1st.
Riders will now have to pay an extra quarter for rides, bringing the new total to a $1.25. Costs also increased for monthly, senior citizen and disabled passes, in addition to a new 30 cent bus transfer fee.
Some riders think the new increase is a pretty big inconvenience.

"They thought the dollar was just fine, but they thought the $1.25 is getting a little annoying. They'd rather just carry bills than change," said Chenango Bridge resident Corey-James Ritter.
The rate hike was approved by the Broome County legislature in October to help with BC Transit's rising costs.
