Barden Homes shutting down Tully factory
TULLY, N.Y. -- Alcoa isn't alone. Barden Building Systems announced it is shutting down its Tully factory. The plant builds prefabricated homes and commercial buildings.
Chief Sales Officer Eric Barden says the slump is the result of too many new homes built across the country, coupled with the economic downfall. Twenty people will lose their jobs and local merchants fear they'll also be losing business.

"It's a big loss to the community. They've been an integral part of the Homer community for a long time and seeing that they're not being in Tully here, it's a big loss," said Mike Day.
Barden has another factory in Middleport, New York, that will remain open. The Tully factory is scheduled to close within the next 90 days.
