Sharpton calls on FCC for news corporation crackdown
SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- The leader of the National Alliance Network is calling on the Federal Communications Commission to crackdown on News Corporation, the business run by Rupert Murdoch, owner of the New York Post.

Reverend Al Sharpton was in Syracuse helping a drive to boost membership in a local chapter of his National Alliance Network. He is fresh from new protests in New York over a New York Post cartoon that he claims was racist.

“For anyone to think it's funny to infer that the president is a chimpanzee, playing to old stereotypes, is wrong. Particularly when you have someone who has such an inordinate amount of media power as Rupert Murdoch,” Sharpton said.

Sharpton says protests at the New York Post headquarters will continue.

The Post has issued an apology to people they feel took the image the wrong way.
