Two local credit unions victims of phone and email scam
BINGHAMTON, N.Y. -- Two local credit unions have confirmed their clients may be victims of a text message and email phishing scam.
GHS Federal Credit Union and BCT Federal Credit Union, both based in Binghamton, announced on their websites that clients have received messages stating their cards had been deactivated. However, the banks warn that if you call the number listed in the message and follow the instructions, your personal information and accounts could be at risk.
Both credit unions say they never ask for customer information via text message or email.
