Owego takes top spot for “Coolest Small Town in America" contest
OWEGO, N.Y. -- After rallying support from all across the country, Owego took the top spot for the “Coolest Small Town in America.” Owego beat out both Rockland, Maine and Grinnell, Iowa.
The contest was sponsored by Budget Travel Magazine. Editors chose the Tioga County village for its architecture, culture, aesthetics and history. Tourism officials hope the national exposure will mean more curious travelers.

"Getting us out there as a recognition of a name will let people know that they're coming into the region, they might remember that this is the town that won the Coolest Small Town and they might stop then and see what we have here,” said Stella Reschke, Tioga County Tourism Director.
An official celebration party will be held Friday evening at the Jailhouse Restaurant on Court Street.
