FORT MONTGOMERY, N.Y. -- They say you can find anything for auction on eBay, and now you can add a 19th Century stone fort to that list.

Fort Montgomery in the Northern Adirondacks was once an essential border post, a contemporary of Fort Ontario in Oswego, but it has since faded into the mists of time.

The Fort, and some 300 acres of adjacent land sitting on the north end of Lake Champlain, is listed on eBay for a cool $5 million.

The Preservation League of New York State has recently listed Fort Montgomery on their "Seven to Save" historic site list for 2009.
