Onondaga Historical Association holds Medal Breakfast

SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Honors were given out Thursday morning for preservation of our history. The Onondaga Historical Association held its annual Medal Breakfast at the Hotel Syracuse.
The breakfast honors individuals and organizations for their contributions to the cause of preserving and interpreting the area's heritage.
We're happy to report that our parent company, Time Warner Cable, was one of this year's recipients. Also honored were the Camillus Erie Canal Park and the late Hank Schramm, who wrote several books about the history of Syracuse. Time Warner Cable was honored for the restoration of our building, which used to be the home of the New York Central Station.
"It's important, I think, to honor the great buildings of our history and to think about how we can reuse them and repurpose them for today's use. The use of the train station as the central station of Your News Now is a perfect use of that building," said OHA Executive Director Greg Tripoli.
The OHA also praised our weekly "Your Hometown" series, which tells the history behind the towns and villages of our region.
