FORT DRUM, N.Y. -- A retired Fort Drum Public Affairs officer has passed away.

RD Murphy served as Fort Drum's Public Affairs Officer for 17 years, guiding reporters and photographers around the base. He retired from Fort Drum last year after nearly two decades as the contact person.

Before working in that office, he served in the Army for 22 years, retiring as a Master Sergeant.
