POTSDAM, N.Y. -- Clarkson University is in the running to receive a grant to help the State of New York go green. The grant would total $125 million spread out among several universities in New York.

The money would be used to create buildings that are more energy efficient. Clarkson would use its portion of about a million dollars to research materials.

"This project is one that would really shine a light on collaborative research. Where you have people from different disciplines working together to solve common problems,” said Anthony Collins, Clarkson University President.

All told, the grant money would lead to about 75,000 jobs across the state of New York in the areas of research, development and construction.

Clarkson will find out if they will be getting the grant money in about two weeks.
