NEW YORK STATE FAIR -- Kids of all ages are getting their hands dirty digging for fossils at the fair. The dig is hosted by the Museum of Earth located in Ithaca. They are digging through shale, which is rock made of mud.
Fossils of clams and snails are a few things that have been uncovered. And whatever the kids find, they can take home.
"We want them to understand a little bit about the discovery process and science. We want them to wonder, we want them to enjoy nature. We want them to understand the earth has changed and they can find interesting things in the rocks right in their vicinity," said Rob Ross of the Museum of Earth.
