POTSDAM, N.Y. -- Clarkson University has its own ideas on improving the local economy and to help spread the word, they hosted the "Forever Wired" Conference on campus Tuesday. The conference focused on the use of broadband and how it can improve business and communication.

The one day event had over 200 people attend, from entrepreneurs to telecommuters. Officials with the conference say broadband is still growing in the area, but is essential for businesses to reach out to new markets and generate growth in the economy.

"Everyone else is doing it. Their markets have expanded and so this region needs to get on board with broadband. It's very difficult to do that if you don't have broadband, so the first step was to get broadband," said Anthony Collins, Clarkson University President.

The conference also aimed to allow local business people to network and share ideas.
