SYRACUSE, N.Y. - A Syracuse Roman Catholic Church reaches a milestone. The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception celebrates its one hundredth anniversary Sunday.

The building itself was actually fully constructed in 1904, but the church was consecrated in 1910. Bishop Robert Cunningham was in attendance for a special ceremony, which was held in conjunction with the normal mass.

Church officials say it's good to be able to celebrate this milestone and honor the community that calls it home.

"It's such a great church, a great parish, and it's a beautiful, magnificent building that many people, certainly our diocese and others just love. We're trying to keep it up in difficult days with finances and also with closing churches, but it's a great parish, great church," said Reverend Neal Quartier.

The cathedral is open to tours from 2 until 4 p.m. Sunday so people can learn more about its history.
