POTSDAM, N.Y. -- A North Country Church is able to continue a Christmas tradition, thanks to some Clarkson University students.
The First Presbyterian Church in Potsdam has hoisted a 16 foot-wide lighted star every Christmas for the past 25 years. However, due to wear and tear, the church's original star had become too deteriorated to use this year. Engineering students at Clarkson built a new star made out of a more durable material and the church was able to raise the star in time for the Christmas season, something they are thankful for.
Pastor Richard Will of the Potsdam First Presbyterian Church said, "It's wonderful. As you come across from Canton, come across the bridge, it's one of the first things you see. You can see the star from that bridge. It's a symbol."
The Christmas star will shine until January 7th.
