CLAYTON, N.Y. - -A music festival in Clayton Sunday celebrated the life of a former local musician. The Keith Brabant Music Scholarship Festival honors the things Keith valued most, community and music.
Brabant was shot and killed in his Alexandria home in April of 2010. The festival features bands on two different stages along with plenty of other fun activities.
Four scholarships were also awarded for the first time to Jefferson County individuals interested in music. Organizers say this is the best way to honor the friend and musician they miss so much.
Event Coordinator Kelly Harrington said, "I think that Keith would be so proud and so touched. He knew that he was loved by many people, but I think that he would be floored by the love that came out of this community and extended community."
Organizers plan to continue this festival and the scholarships for years to come to remember Brabant.
