NATIONWIDE-- It's unbelievable how much of an impact one day of coffee sales can truly make. Every penny from a coffee sale at any Tim Horton's will help pay for a child go to a 10 day summer camp or a 7 day winter camp. The money raised for the Tim Horton's Children Foundation will help send about 14,000 kids to a summer or winter camp.
The camps are located in a number of areas across Canada and in Kentucky here in the United States. The camps help underprivileged kids ranging in age from 9 to 12 build confidence, and their leadership skills. For many of these kids it's their first opportunity to travel away from home to try new activities and make new friends.
"Each store owner is allowed one or two children per store. Where we use organizations such as schools or youth organizations to help us find kids that are eligible to meet the criteria to go to the camp," said Steve Hughes, Tim Horton's Salina store owner.
If you stop in to any Tim Horton's and you're not in the mood for a cup of coffee, you can still make a contribution for Camp Day. Just look for the donation box with the proceeds going to the Tim Horton's Children Foundation.
