UTICA, N.Y. -- The revitalization of Utica's Bagg's Square area continues as a local sports star announces plans to open a new business in the neighborhood.

Ultimate fighter Matt Hamill announced plans to open The Cage ultimate sports bar later this summer. Diners there won't have to worry about missing the big game -- they plan to have 25 televisions throughout the restaurant broadcasting the latest events.

The Cage will be located on Main St. next to Union Station. Owners say they picked the area after Mayor David Roefaro told them of the city's efforts to bring the neighborhood back to life.

"He steered us in this direction. He said, 'You've got to be in Utica, you've got to be downtown Utica, and I really think you've got to look at Bagg's Square. That's going to be the next up-and-coming area, it's ready to go right now.' And he was right," said co-owner Duff Holmes.

The Cage is expected to be open by the end of the summer.
