Car larcenies on the rise
UTICA, N.Y. -- The Utica Police Department is reminding the public to keep their vehicles locked following a string of car larcenies in the area.
Police say more than a dozen cars have been broken into already this month. Some of the items stolen include GPS devices, digital cameras, jewelry and even loose change.
Most of the cases involved unlocked vehicles. Police say the best way to protect your belongings is to keep your car locked and try to remove all items of value from your vehicle.
They say thieves typically will not break into your vehicle, unless they see something of value inside.
