ONONDAGA COUNTY, N.Y. -- What do you get when you combine a chicken a dog and a pig? A fun and creative way to learn, of course!
The combination is one of many created by children in the Town of Salina Parks Department Summer Program. The project was created as a way to get kids excited about a visit from the Rosamond Gifford Zoo's "Zoo to You" program. Zookeepers brought a turtle and a salamander for the kids to learn about and will return to the zoo with the hybrid creations from the summer program.
"The kids went crazy for it. They've been working on it for a week. We've made a huge wall, there's probably 30 pictures up there. The kids are so excited. The zoo is going to take them, they're going to do a competition with all the zoo keepers and they're going to give the kids a surprise. They're so excited," Emily Mastrobattisto said.
Other silly combinations included a pig, a frog and a horse, as well as giraffe, a zebra and a bat.
