SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Syracuse City Auditor candidate Steve Kimatian proposed an idea on Thursday to bring openness to municipal meetings.

The program called "Operation: Syracuse Everywhere" would bring transparency to all municipal meetings allowing citizens to be in the loop.

Kimatian calls for all meetings to be broadcast on a city cable channel or streamed over the internet so that citizens will be aware of the decisions being made by elected officials. He cited the Ida Benderson decision as an example of what his proposal would prevent.

"The mayor is confronted with many decisions that are very difficult, fiscally, and I understand that. I appreciate that. And we're going to have many more Benderson like decisions over the next years. The point is, in making those decisions, a procedure has to be followed of openness," Kimatian said.

Kimatian hopes that launching this program would not only benefit the citizens, but also create an added reason for businesses to locate in the Syracuse area.
