CANTON, N.Y. -- Canton Village Police are warning local merchants to pay closer attention to the money they accept after two counterfeit bills were used locally.

Police say a fake 20 dollar was used to purchase a Trailways bus ticket at the Partridge Cafe, which is also used as the local bus station. And a fake 10 dollar bill was accepted at the Community Bank in Canton.

Police say the counterfeit bills were not very well done. The color was different and they were small in size. They say the two bills will now be turned over to the Secret Service for further investigation.
