SYRACUSE, N.Y.--It's no secret traveling can be stressful, especially during high volume times, like school vacation weeks.
"We usually don't travel during breaks, like I said, we usually just do car trips up north, or car trips if we go away in April, so we usually don't take our chances with the flights and the weather and stuff like that", says Roxanne Tangredi, who is taking her children to Florida for the week.
With February break upon us, airport officials say passengers should expect long security lines, and crowded flights. Friday evening, those traveling out of Hancock International were pleasantly surprised, finding few delays.
And it's no surprise many travelers were flocking to warmer climates, like Port Byron Senior Andy Leary, and his grandmother, who were also on their way to Florida.
"This Winters been a mild one, but it's still nice to get down to 70 and 80 degree weather," Leary said.
While the lack of snow has been popular with many people, others like Roxanne Tangredi, say it has put a damper on their usual vacation plans.
"We haven't been away on a February break in a while, we usually snowmobile, but this winter kind of, we'll trade the snowmobiling since it's not great," says Tangredi.
Students like Meghan Durr say no matter how they plan to use their time off, any break from their school routine is a welcome change, "No homework and sleeping in, that's my favorite."
Airport officials say if you are planning to travel during the vacation week to make sure you give yourself some extra time to make your flight, and they ask that passengers are as organized as possible when packing, to make getting through the security line easier.
It is always a good idea to check your flight status before leaving home, to make sure you're up to date on any changes.
