SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- The Jim and Julie Boeheim Foundation announced the 13th annual Basket Ball Gala. The Syracuse University men’s basketball coach and his wife, Julie, put on the gala and fundraiser each year in an effort to raise money for cancer research and awareness.

Turning Stone Casino and Resort will host the event at the end of April.

Those in attendance will participate in live and silent auctions on items such as tickets to SU games and the 2013 Final Four. All of the money raised is distributed to local organizations that provide services to children and cancer patients.

“Being able to do that, help specific organizations with grants and I think as Julie said we’ve been able to help 36 different local organizations, so that’s been the most rewarding thing I think in the last year or two,” said SU men's basketball head coach Jim Boeheim.

Since the foundation teamed up with Excellus Blue Cross Blue Shield eleven years ago, they have raised more than $4 million for organizations across Central New York.
