SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Kids at Upstate Golisano Children's Hospital can now relax in a one-of-a-kind therapeutic oasis. The multi-sensory room is a space where patients can relax or be stimulated based on their individual needs. The space has floor-to-ceiling bubble tubes, a heated waterbed, climbing and crawling surfaces and mats, projectors and a suspension swing.

Kids can also change the white walls to be whatever color they want during their one-on-one appointment.

"The kids look forward to coming into here if they've had the experience of being in here. And in post-procedures, if they had a very difficult time getting an IV or just a traumatic situation, they can come in here, relax and just kind of let their body mellow out," said Gina Lozito-Yorton, Certified Child Life Specialist.

Golisano is the only children's hospital in the country with a therapeutic room like this one.
