COLTON, N.Y. -- Construction has begun at Higley Flow State Park in Colton to build a new shower facility.
Governor Cuomo announced earlier this month that more than $5 million will be used to upgrade three state parks and Olympic Regional Development Authority facilities in the North Country. Higley Flow was awarded $275,000 by the state to replace an old restroom that was badly in need of repair. Construction will continue through the summer.
"Might be a little inconvenient for the campers this summer, you know, due to the construction, but I think at the end of the season, when they got the thing done, there's going to be an awful lot of happy campers around here," State Park Supervisor Henry Sieg said.
This new shower building will have six individual family-style restrooms. The park supervisor says the new lay out will be much more convenient for parents taking care of young children.
