SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- There was a plea entered by the suspect in a standoff from last summer.
Evan Edwardsen pleaded not responsible by reason of mental disease and defect in connection with a standoff last August on Wyoming Street in Syracuse.
Edwardsen had been charged with placing a false bomb/hazardous substance after he pulled out a hand grenade during the incident. It turned out not to be real. He will now be placed in the custody of state mental health officials and have to undergo a psychiatric evaluation.
Edwardsen could be held indefinitely if he is found dangerously mentally ill.
