AUBURN, N.Y. -- The Auburn community gets the chance to check out a newly restored historic pavilion. A dedication was held on Sunday at the Emerson Park Pavilion.

The event coincides with the 100th anniversary of the pavilion, which replaced a previous facility that burned down in 1912.

The building was completely renovated inside and out, in order to address structural problems. It can now host multiple events simultaneously, all year long.

According to officials, they are hopeful that the upgrades will keep the pavilion a central part of the community.

"This building's been here 100 years. We're hoping that this stays a building, around for future generations to enjoy," said Tony Fanceschelli, Fred L. Emerson Foundation President.

The more than $4 million renovation was funded by the Fred L. Emerson Foundation, with Cayuga County donating in kind services.
