ROME, N.Y. -- Movie lovers in Rome will soon be able to go to the drive-in. The new movie screen at the West Rome Drive-In was put into place Friday. It is one of the last steps before opening the 61-year-old theater back up to the public.
The lot will hold 225 cars and will include a new concession stand.
The drive-in sits on the site of the Davidson Automotive Group, which took over the property.
"When we bought the property, it wasn't something that was on our minds, but there was an outcry from the public and we decided to go ahead and put the theater back in for the community," said Doug Davidson, Davidson Automotive Group Vice President.
The first film on the big screen is expected to be on July 6th.
