ONEIDA COUNTY, N.Y. -- The Notah Begay III Foundation Challenge at Turning Stone has seen big names before and this year promises to yield golfing's best yet again.
Turning Stone's Atunyote Golf Club is set to see Tiger Woods, Rickie Fowler, Cristie Kerr and nine other PGA and LPGA pros at the Challenge August 29th.
While the big names coming out to Atunyote in August are certainly exciting, it's the big cause they're excited about at the Oneida Nation.
"Forty to 50 percent of children in Native America are obese and that leads to all sorts of complications later in life," Oneida Nation Representative Ray Halbritter.
"Their money is going straight to a great cause," Begay said.
The money raised joins a pot of more than $3 million raised by the foundation to combat Native American childhood obesity and Type II Diabetes.
"Over the last five years, we've serviced over 10,000 youth through soccer and golf programs," said Begay.
They've also gained big partners, like Nike to help on the fitness side and Johns Hopkins to help identify the causes of the obesity and diabetes.
"It's not only paramount because it adversely affects Native American Communities and our kids at the highest rate, but I think it's something that I think everybody needs to keep an eye on," Begay explained.
If you're looking to a get a peek at the pros, you'll have to get your tickets quickly. Begay says they're restricting the amount of tickets to keep the Challenge as exclusive as possible.
